Gouges wood carving for DAN 96 and SEM 612
Gouges for sculptors are specially manufactured for Gamma Zinken by Stubai in special carbon steel, which guarantees a long lifespan. Its blades are hand-forged, hardened and then carefully sharpened and polished. Such treatment guarantees numerous sharpenings.
Our gouges are purposely produced by Stubai with a reinforced shank, which is afterwards turned, threaded, inserted and permanently fixed into a special quick change joint in our factory.
Gouges are thinly sharpened: its 15° cutting angle make them perfect for cutting lime wood and similar types of wood.
If you want to carve hard wood, we suggest you to resharpen the blade edge at a 20° or 25° cutting angle, otherwise the tools may easily chip at the rim due to a wrong movement. Just in case it happens, the tools must be resharpened at the right cutting angle, according to the wood type you want to carve.
